Personal note: As more and more people are recognizing Alternative Therapies as reliable ways of helping to relieve stress and heal themselves, I feel privileged to be a part of this movement.

Reflexology is a natural healing art based on the principle that there are reflexes in the hands, feet and ears, which correspond to every part, gland and organ of the body. Through application of pressure on these reflexes, reflexology relieves tension, improves circulation and helps promote the natural function of the related areas of the body. Reflexology in practice as depicted on the Egyptian tomb of Ankmahor in 2350 BC.

Benefits:

  1. Promotes relaxation and release of tension.

  2. Improves circulation (lymphatic and cardiovascular), drainage and elimination.

  3. Maintains or re-establishes homeostasis, (helps the body to normalize itself naturally, without adverse effects).

Reflexology History

Reflexology in practice as depicted on the Egyptian tomb of Ankmahor in 2350 BC.In 1913 Dr. William Fitzgerald noted that pressure on specific parts of the body could have an anaesthetising effect on a related area. Developing this theory, he divided the body into ten equal and vertical zones, ending in the fingers and toes. He concluded that pressure on one part of a zone could affect everything else within that zone.

In the 1930's, Eunice Ingham, a therapist, further developed and refined the zone therapy into what is now known as reflexology. She observed that congestion or tension in any part of the foot mirrors congestion or tension in a corresponding part of the body. Thus, when you treat the big toes there is a related effect in the head, and treating the whole foot can have a relaxing and healing effect on the whole body.

Come and see why India, China, Egypt, etc., have been practicing this healing therapy for thousands of years. Ilia will share her knowledge of holistic nutrition and helpful tips, to make your session an excellent starting point on your road to better health.

The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being.

Therapeutic massage can be used to promote general well-being and enhance self-esteem, while boosting the circulatory and immune systems to benefit blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion, and skin tone. It has been incorporated into many health systems, and different massage techniques have been developed and integrated into various complementary therapies.

Most clients use massage therapy as their reset button when they have become too tightly wound up. Others commit to a weekly or bi-weekly appointment as a maintenance program to combat their hectic life style. The latter is strongly recommended.
