The living body, human or animal, radiates warmth and energy. This energy is the universal life force that exists in everyone and everything. When practicing Reiki the practitioner is channeling this energy to the receiver. The act of laying on of the hands on the human or animal body to comfort and relieve pain is as old as instinct itself. So, it is no surprise that when experiencing pain, the first thing people do is place their hand(s) over the area of pain. Some of the benefits include promoting of relaxation, improving of circulation, relieving tension and improving over all body awareness.

The basic goal of massage therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being.

Therapeutic massage can be used to promote general well-being and enhance self-esteem, while boosting the circulatory and immune systems to benefit blood pressure, circulation, muscle tone, digestion, and skin tone. It has been incorporated into many health systems, and different massage techniques have been developed and integrated into various complementary therapies.

Most clients use massage therapy as their reset button when they have become too tightly wound up. Others commit to a weekly or bi-weekly appointment as a maintenance program to combat their hectic life style. The latter is strongly recommended.
